Fine Art Show announces judges

As the deadline for entries fast approaches, the Amateur Fine Art committee announced the judges for the 2020 show. If you are interested in entering the 2020 Fine Art Show, the deadline for entry is Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. Rules and application for the show can be found online at plazacenter.org/2020- fine-arts-show. Your entry must include 5x7 photographs of your artwork (up to 4), the application and entry fee of $40.

Be My Valentine

Approximately 200 kids at Putnam County Elementary and Primary schools and Putnam County Early Learning Program received gift bags and had a chance to color Valentine’s Day cards as representatives of Peaceful Purpose Hospice of Georgia visited them Feb. 13. Peaceful Purpose Hospice made Valentine’s Day cards and provided crayons. Teachers weren’t left behind and received Valentine’s Day gift bags, too. “We are supporting Valentine Day and letting them know how much we care,” said Melissa Williams, marketer at Peaceful Purpose Hospice. “We are here for the schools and for the education of kids. Education is the most important thing and so is involving kids in activities.”

Beginning again

With the turning of the calendar page each year we all have an opportunity to leave the past behind and to begin again. Many times our past will hold us back from stepping into our brand new future, but who among us has lived a life that has been without mistakes? Other than Jesus Christ, I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t need a fresh start and a new beginning. But just because we make the decision to change the direction of our life doesn’t mean that others around us believe that we are going to be successful.
