Co-directors appreciated for latest performance at Plaza
I just want to publicly thank the tireless Kathy Carroll and Jenny Morris, co-directors for PAPA, for producing the nostalgic musical “Crazy For You,” which was presented to delighted audiences in three sold out performances, from July 27 to July 29.
The work these talented ladies did with their group of incredible local talent have had everyone tapping their toes and singing along to those well known Gershwin tunes all week.
How Eatonton got so lucky is beyond me, but we can start with PAPA, which is an organization founded in 1978 by a group of Putnam County residents who wanted to provide performance opportunities for local interest and talents. Add to that, the creation of EPAF, Eatonton – Putnam Arts Foundation and the restoration of the old Eatonton Grammar School which became the gorgeous Plaza Arts Center, and you have fertile soil for an amazingly active arts center with opportunities for performers to hone their skills and for the lucky public, like me, to get to see performances like last summer’s “A Chorus Line” and this summer’s “Crazy For You.”
Thank you, thank you City of Eatonton for supporting the Plaza Arts Center and thank you, thank you Kathy, Jenny and all the amazing dancers, singers and production assistants for blessing Eatonton and other Lake Country residents with such a delightful musical production. Please continue this great summer tradition.
