Man recycles items reported stolen

An Eatonton man was arrested for stealing several items from local businesses and residents and selling them to be recycled. Eatonton Police Chief Kent Lawrence said James H. Waller III, 31, of Spring Street, Eatonton, was charged with theft by taking on Aug. 17.

According to incident reports from Eatonton Police Department, a man residing on Hogan Road took the transmission out of his 1985 GMC pickup truck on Aug. 13 and placed it on the ground beside the truck. The next day, the transmission was gone. Also, 12 automobile tire rims went missing from El Piston Tire Shop on North Jefferson Avenue on Aug. 17 and the owner later found them at Hallman’s Scrap Yard on Lower Harmony Road. A pressure washer was also reportedly taken from another business.

Investigation revealed Waller stole the items, Lawrence said.
