Juanita McDowell Jones, 87 of Eatonton passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016.

She was born to the late Samuel Thomas Dunaway and the late Elizabeth Owens Dunaway July 25, 1928 in Kannapolis, N.C. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pearson Jones and a daughter, Charis Adams Worley.

Mrs. Jones was very involved in her community after her retirement as a nurse from East Alabama Medical Center in Auburn, Ala. She stayed active as a hospital volunteer, with the women’s auxiliary, the Emblem Club, her church, painting and many other activities. She had a smile for everyone and enjoyed many fun adventures spending time with her grandchildren.

Angela Brannon of Covington, formerly of Eatonton, departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at Piedmont Newton Medical Center.

Angela Lawson Brannon was born Dec. 15, 1965 to Carl and Rosa Mae Butts Lawson. 

Fondly called “Water,” she attended the public schools of Putnam County. She graduated from Putnam County High School in 1983. She was later employed as a bus driver and substitute teacher with the Putnam County Board of Education for more than 20 years.

She loved family and mothered any child in need. She loved playing pool.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James H. Lawson, and niece, Shaquille Megan Lawson.

Lillian Frances Stewart McElhenney, 93, of Eatonton passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016.

Mrs. McElhenney was born in Crawfordville July 15, 1922 to the late Percy Kilpatrick Stewart and Belle Amos. She married the love of her life, Hughlon Howard “Mac” McElhenney Oct. 10, 1941. They were married 57 years and had three children. 

She was a member of Eatonton First Baptist Church, a Pink Lady for the Putnam General Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class.

Roy Carter

Mr. Roy Carter, 71, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016.

The funeral service was Monday, Jan. 18 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home and Crematory in Milledgeville, with interment in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Macon.

Mr. Carter was predeceased by his parents, Willis and Elizabeth Beasley Carter. 

He had lived at Lake Sinclair since 1991 after moving from Macon. He was retired from Baker’s Body Shop, where he worked as a body repairman and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.

Pamela Carson De Petrillo

Pamela Carson De Petrillo passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at home peacefully in the arms of her loving husband, Michael and daughters, Robin and Merrill.

She is survived by her sister, Christina; a stepdaughter, Kathleen and each of their families. She cherished her grandson, Henry and granddaughter, Elizabeth, and was most proud of her loving and accomplished sons-in-law.

She was born May 25, 1942 in Bronxville, N.Y. to John LeRoy Carson and Katherine Rebecca Young. 

She devoted her life to her husband, daughters, family and many wonderful friends.

She will be missed by all who knew her. To honor her wishes, there will not be a service or memorial.

Peggy Freeman, 84, of Eatonton passed away at her residence Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016.

She was born on April 24, 1931 in East Point. She had been living in Eatonton for the past 15 years and was a member of Lake Country Baptist Church. 

She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, but mostly loved spending time with her family. She retired after 41 years as a press operator from Curtis 1000.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Savinia Darande “Dee” Holsenbeck

Dee Holsenbeck, 66, of Hillsboro, passed away at her residence Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.

She was born in Thomaston to the late James E. Smith and the late Evelyn Partain Smith on March 16, 1949.

She was a member of Lakeshore Community Church and was a devoted choir member.

The funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 9 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, with burial following in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cecil Davis

Mr. Cecil Davis, 81, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.

The funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 7 at Lake Country Baptist Church.  Private interment was at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was a native of Kentucky and had made his home in Georgia since 1978, after living in Florida for four years. He also had lived in Illinois, Indiana and Alaska.

He was the son of the late, Mr. John C. Davis and the late Mary Bruner Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired in 1999 after 50 years of working as a carpenter. He was a member of Lake Country Baptist Church.

Sandra Mains O’Steen

Sandra O’Steen, 69, of Eatonton passed away at her residence Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.

She was born in Elmira, N.Y. on Aug. 29, 1946 to the late John B. Mains and the late Edna Lindstrom Mains. She has lived in Eatonton since 1956 and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was a teacher for the Putnam County Board of Education, retiring two years ago after teaching for 42 years.

Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry ‘Zeke’ O’Steen; a son, Will O’Steen and wife DeLacy; a grandson, Bowen Thomas O’Steen; sisters, Betty Mains O’Steen, Karen Mains Dixon; a brother-in-law, Michael Trepanier; nieces, Gina O’Steen Chambers, Sherri Roberts Tarte, Shannon Roberts Williams, Marti O’Steen Foster, Kalli Ryan Trepanier; and nephews, Darrell O’ Steen and Jonathan Trepanier.

William “Frankie” Roberts, 56, of Eatonton passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1959 in Eatonton to Grace Lee Roberts. He was a member of Heritage Point Church and lived in Eatonton his entire life. 

He was preceded in death by a son, John William Lamar” Skeet” Roberts. 

He enjoyed fishing and riding around town.

The funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, with burial in Eatonton Memorial Park.
