Mr. Evelyn B. "E. B." Adams, Jr. of 6723 Seven Islands Road, Madison departed this life Friday, February 24, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Eatonton, Dr. Velde Hardy, Pastor, Rev. W. J. Reid, officiated, and Bishop Kenneth D. Jones, eulogist. Interment followed in the Mt. Plaesant Baptist Church cemetery.
Evelyn Brodus “E.B.” Adams, Jr. or “Bro” as he was affectionately known was born December 8, 1948 to the late Evelyn Brodus Adams, Sr. and Parthenia Crawford Adams of Godfrey, Georgia. Upon his confession of faith in Christ, at an early age, he was baptized by the late Rev. F.D. Clark at New Enon Baptist Church in Godfrey.

Judith R. Parker, age 74, faithful servant of the Lord, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Ingleside Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Clark of Eatonton passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
Shirley was born May 17, 1939 to the late Hoke Arthur and Gertrude Icey Arthur.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dalton Johnny Clark.  She was a member of Marshall Memorial Baptist Church and has lived in Eatonton most of her adult life.  Shirley enjoyed walking, cooking, cleaning, baby sitting, Elvis music, but most of all, she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, February 17, 2017 in Vining Ivy Hill Chapel with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

Darrell Wilson Haws Jr.
Darrell Wilson Haws Jr., 78, of Eatonton passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at his residence.
A memorial service is planned for 11a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Eatonton First Baptist Church with visitation prior to the service, at 10:30a.m.
Darrell Haws was born in Johnson City, Tenn. Jan. 14, 1939 to the late Darrell Wilson Haws Sr. and Billie Jo Shepherd Haws. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors included his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Adcock Haws; two daughters, Linda Elizabeth Brantley (Rusty) and Jamie Lee Kelly (Brian Lee); a brother, Brad Haws (Sadie); a sister, Janice Howard; five grandchildren, Leah Elizabeth Sassman (Brian), Peyton Rose Brantley, Walker Haws Brantley, Brandon Lee Kelly, Madison Leanne Kelly; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Sassman and Gabe Sassman.

James Mitchell (Jack) SharpJr.
James Mitchell (Jack) SharpJr., passed away peacefully in his home in Eatonton Friday, Jan. 20, 2017.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 1p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro.
Jack was born in Kansas City, Mo. and lived most of his life in the Atlanta and Lake Oconee areas.
He was a graduate of Furman University where he played football and also served in the U.S. Air Force.  Most of his career was as sales manager with United Van Lines agencies in Atlanta, then retired to the Lake Oconee area.Jack was an outdoorsman and avid, accomplished hunter and traveler who is most remembered for his friendship, his gift of humor and telling stories of his adventures.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, James (Jack) and Dorothy Sharp; two brothers, Robert (Robbie) Sharp and Terry Sharp; and a sister, Patricia (Patsy) Samples.

James Alison Griffith
James Alison Griffith, 98, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017.
The funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 21 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with Father David Probst officiating.
Mr. Griffith was born in Roscoe, Texas and later moved to Atlanta where he attended North Fulton High School.

After high school, he served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II in the Mediterranean.

He married Maredith Byrd of Newport, Tenn. on Aug. 23, 1945.

In April 1947, he started working for the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta and retired in July1968 as a senior officer.

James Fred Avant
Mr. James Fred “Jimmy” Avant, 82, of Jefferson, entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.

The funeral service was Friday, Jan. 13 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Williams and the Rev. Tony Powers officiating. Burial followed in Eatonton Memorial Park in Eatonton. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Daniel Brown, Alex Brown, Joe Rossee, Chris Hewette, Tim Nipper and Jason Justus.
Mr. Avant was born in Hillsboro and was the son of the late Fred and Evelyn Frances Key Avant.He was a member of Union Baptist Church and attended the Jackson County Senior Center.Mr. Avant first retired as a dairy farmer and then again from the State of Georgia as a correctional officer. 

Mr. Avant was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Eubanks Avant; and a brother, Jerry Avant.

Tullie Lee Martin Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017.

The funeral service was Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Portwood officiating. Burial followed in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Martin was born in Bibb County and lived in Wilkinson County and Putnam County before making his home in Milledgeville.

He worked at Central State Hospital and retired as supervisor of the motor garage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tullie Lee Martin and Mozell Martin; and a son, Lin Martin. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam.

Vincent Farley was born Nov. 12, 1953 in Eatonton and was the son of the late Willie Frank Farley Sr. and Mrs. Annie Ruth Farley.

He attended Butler-Baker School.

He began working as a teenager, his current job was an attendant for Advance Disposal.
