Faye Guyton

Faye (Johnson) Guyton, age 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 1, 2018.

Faye was born in Evans, Ga. to the late Sarah Francis Hall and William Read Johnson. Faye was a long time resident of Putnam County, graduated from Putnam County High School and worked numerous places such as Haband and Horton Trucking before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Hallman; father, William Read Johnson; and sister, Ellen Johnson.

She is survived by husband and loving friend, Mike Guyton of Eatonton; siblings, Peggy Allen of Monticello, Jimmy Culberson (Charlotte) of Eatonton; her two children, Cliff Stevens, of Rome, Ga., and Jessica Guyton Adams (Carl), of Eatonton; four grandchildren, Dylin Stevens, Sydnie Stevens, Vince Stevens and Harleigh Grace Adams; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.

John Vaughn Ard

John Vaughn Ard, a 40-year communications specialist for the Georgia Department of Labor, a devoted husband, and a man who loved God and radiated a concern for others, died Friday at Northside Hospital of complications following surgery. He was 76.

 The son of the late Viola and David Ard of Eatonton, John developed an early love of writing and had articles published in The Eatonton Messenger while still in high school. After attending Young Harris College, he earned a journalism degree from the University of Georgia, where he was sports editor of the Red and Black.

John served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain’s assistant in Germany and afterward worked briefly in the Atlanta Journal sports department and for two years as a writer and publicist for the Presbyterian Center.

Lillie Virginia Farley

Lillie Virginia Farley, the matriarch of the family, earned her wings with her daughters at her side on Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Services were held on March 3, 2018 at Greater Bell’s Chapel Baptist Church. 670 Oconee Springs Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024.

Lillie Virginia Farley was born on May 25, 1936 to the late Johnny and Jessie Lee Driskell. She received her education through the Putnam County School System. She was a domestic engineer. Lilyful, as she was affectionately called by her nieces, who she loved dearly. She was well loved by all with a heart of gold and an award-winning smile. She was preceded in death by three sons, David Farley, William (Teetot) Farley and Linton (Peanut) Farley.

Pete Bailes, age 79, of Eatonton passed away at his residence on Friday, February 16, 2018.

The visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 12 to 2 PM, followed by a service at 2 PM.

Burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens after the service.

Pete was born on May 28, 1938 in Victor, West Virginia to the late Herbert Kavenaugh Bailes and Blanche Mae Eagle Bailes. Pete retired from the Tropicana Products Company, and also was owner of Bailes Ranch. Pete was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau, The Cattleman's Association, Polled Hereford Association, and enjoyed ranching. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Kavenaugh Bailes and Blanche Mae Eagle Bailes; one sister, Peg Skaggs; and three brothers, Ernest, Roger and Ray Bailes.

Donna Delanie Hooper Beery
Mrs. Donna Delanie Hooper Beery, age 70, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Crooked Creek Community Center.Mrs. Beery is preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Parlier Dix and father, James Clare Hooper. She was born in East Point, GA and lived in Eatonton for many years before moving to Milledgeville seven years ago.
Mrs. Beery is survived by her daughter, Jerrie Morgan of Morrow; grandson, K.C. Morgan of Buckhead; sisters, Sandra Gann of Eatonton and Diana (Charles) Cheeks of Hepzibah; nieces, Annette (Ricky) LeBlanc of Eatonton, River Cheeks of Hepzibah; nephews, James Lee Gann of Eatonton and Mark Reeves of Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
