ELDER JAMES HUDSON, SR. 

NOVEMBER 11, 1924- MARCH 29, 2018


Elder James Hudson, Sr. peacefully departed from this life on March 29, 2018, in the comfort of his home. His life and legacy were celebrated by his loving family and his many friends at Greater Bell’s Chapel Baptist Church, Eatonton, Georgia on Wednesday afternoon April 4, 2018. His remains were laid to rest on the Hudson Family Plot in the church cemetery. Elder Hudson was born November 11, 1924, in Eatonton, Georgia to the late John and Essie Hudson. Early in life, worked as a farmer, and would later become a bus driver for the Putnam County Board of Education until his retirement, after which he began working for the county and Oconee National Forestry. Mr. Hudson dedicated the largest portion of his life as a full-time preacher at several churches, including Mt. Calvary, Bell’s Chapel, Jones Groves, Mt. Nemo (Jacksonville, FL), Mt. Mary (Americus, GA), Antioch (Baldwin, GA), Mt. Beulah, St. Paul (Montezuma, GA), Fort Valley Chapel, and Flat Rock (Atlanta, GA). He also served as a moderator for the Mt. Calvary Association for many years. Elder Hudson was united in holy matrimony with the late Susie Mae Beasley Hudson for 65 years. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter. Elder Hudson was preceded in death by his wife Susie Mae Hudson, parents John and Essie Hudson, brothers Author Lee Walker, Eddie Walker, Pat Hudson, Willie Lee Hudson and Roger Hudson, and sisters Mary Bradley, Mamie Lou Garner, Bertha Edwards and Hattie Hudson. Left to cherish Elder Hudson’s memories are his children, James Hudson, Jr. (Eatonton, GA), Marshall Hudson (White Plains, GA) and Annie Lou Little (Eatonton), one devoted sister, Jewel Harris (Stone Mouintain, GA), grandchildren, Anfrankina Little, Marshatta Little, Janetta Clemons (Fredric, GA), Talvis Hudson, Brandon Hudson (Valencia, GA), Sheena Hudson and Khary Hudson, fifteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and two devoted friends, Douglas Farley and Clemmie Williams. Services were entrusted to Bernard’s Family Funeral Care, LLC 103 Willie Bailey Street, Eatonton, Georgia 31024.
