Dee Ridley
May 4, 1963 - April 26, 2017
Dee Ridley, age 53, of Eatonton, passed away at his residence Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
A celebration of his life was held Sunday, April 30, 2017.
Dee was born May 4, 1963 in Eatonton to Donald and Glenda Ridley of Eatonton. Dee has lived in Eatonton all of his life, graduating from Gatewood High School in 1981. He was married to his wife, Toni for 19 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar racing and working.
On April 26, 2017, Dee ended his long, long battle with ALS. He was diagnosed over three years ago, and it's been a rough ride; however, he made sure it didn't appear that way. He would do anything he could, until his body wouldn't let him anymore. Dee always found a way to help us when we knew he was the one who needed help the most. He obviously had a great time around his family. He would joke and cut up all the time, so everyone would feel happy. He knew what was in store for him, but he made sure to make the most of the little time he had left. Even when he couldn't do much of anything, he always smiled. He loved being around the ones he loved most; his wife, Toni; his children, Carissa, Sarah, and Amanda; his parents and sister, Donald, Glenda, and Donna and all of his family and friends. It taught us a very valuable lesson. It didn’t matter what we were experiencing, we can still have joy. We can still smile and we can still show how much we love those around us. While it's sad to see him go, we can't help but to feel happy for him. He is no longer in any pain. He can walk again, talk again, joke again and live again. He's in a much better place than we are here. Best of all, he is with our Savior, Jesus. We will see him again someday, and we know he'll be waiting to see all of us again, too. Your prayers have given us hope and strength when we needed it most. We need it now more than ever. Thank you all so much. Rest in Peace. We love you.
Survivors include his loving wife, Toni Ridley; his children, Carissa (Brett) Mason of Gray, Sarah Pickett, Amanda Ridley, both of Eatonton, loving companion Bo Jack Ridley; his parents, Donald and Glenda Ridley; a sister, Donna (Ron) Kauffman; a grandson, Levi Pickett, all of Eatonton; nephews, Christopher Kauffman, Cody Kauffman, both of Eatonton; his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Jan Jones; a sister-in-law Brenda Shaw, a brother-in-law, Larry (Heather) Jones; nephews, William (Tiffany) Shaw, Justice (Lorie) Shaw, and Rion Jones; nieces, Kayla (Jackson) Corry and Mackenzie Jones; great-nephew, Jerdan Shaw; great-niece, Hayden Shaw, all of Eatonton.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the ALS Association of Atlanta.
