McIver indicted on murder charges

A Fulton County Grand Jury has indicted Claud “Tex” McIver on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and three counts of influencing witnesses.

The charges are on the shooting death of McIver’s wife, Diane, in September 2016.

McIver, a retired attorney, has two addresses – a condominium in Buckhead and a farm on Pea Ridge Road in Putnam. He serves on the Putnam Development Authority and recently was selected to serve on the Central Georgia Joint Development Authority.

In the current, April 27th edition of The Eatonton Messenger is an article about a bond hearing that was taking place the end of last week and earlier this week in Fulton County Superior Court to determine if McIver’s bond would be revoked because a handgun was found in his condominium by investigators serving a search warrant.

As a result of the indictment, the Grand Jury issued a “no bond” warrant for McIver’s arrest. McIver will be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court Judge within the next several days and appear at a court arraignment a short time later, according to information from Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr.’s office.

Please see the May 4 edition of The Eatonton Messenger for more on this story.
