On Friday, Feb.10, Dr. Nicolas Chronos' staff decided to honor him for his hard work and dedicated services to the Lake Oconee community. Dr. Chronos was presented with an Award of Excellence by his Billing Manager, Yaketa Green . The plaque read, "With this award in recognition for your ongoing commitment and dedicated service, your inspiration and vision are an example to us all. With love and gratitude from your friends and colleagues at Cardiology Care Clinic and Lifestyle Medicine."

The main part of the plaque was the scripture at the bottom from the Bible's Jeremiah 29:11. The scripture reads, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Following the presentation, Dr. Chronos was given words of encouragement from his staff, including Dr. Peter Chapman who stated that his mentor once told him that in order to be a great physician, you need two things -- gray hair for the look of distinction and hemorrhoids for the look of concern!

Feb. 10was a night to be remembered as people gathered together to show appreciation to someone that cares about the community.

Dr. Chronos and the team at Cardiology Care Clinic started an independent rural cardiovascular practice to bring five-day a week cardiovascular care to the lake region. Unlike employed physicians who represent specific health systems, Dr. Chronos' vision was to provide the patient with the best care independent of referral bias.

Joined by Dr. Peter Chapman and their nurse practitioner, Leigh Ann Stephens, over the last few years they have developed a complete cardiovascular program including preventative cardiology, non-invasive imaging and weight loss management. Recently they have established Medicare chronic care management and an annual wellness program for all Medicare beneficiaries.

Recently, Dr. Eric Silver, the pre-eminent gynecologist at the lake, has joined the team to establish a women's program. He starts on March 1. This helps Cardiology Care Clinics establish the first independent medical group bringing the vision of comprehensive care with excellence to the community.
