Lynn Hobbs named associate editor

EATONTON -- Staff reporter Lynn Hobbs has been promoted to the position of associate editor of The Eatonton Messenger according to an announcement made by Smith Communications President A. Mark Smith Sr. last week. Hobbs will begin her new role immediately and will oversee news reporting in Eatonton and Putnam County. "We are excited about having Lynn in this position. She has done a lot of good work for our publications and we look forward to seeing more of it as she moves into this role," said Smith.

Hobbs began working at SCI as an associate magazine editor in 2011; she moved to newspaper reporter for The Eatonton Messenger in 2012. Prior to joining the company, Hobbs worked for The Augusta Chronicle and The McDuffie Mirror in the Augusta area. "Lynn has daily and weekly newspaper experience, she has also covered a wide variety of subjects including education, government and crime," said General Manager Mark Smith Jr. "She has won numerous awards from the Georgia Press Association and received local acclaim for many of her stories here in the lake area," Smith added.
