Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Ruth Palmer, 90, of Swainsboro, GA, on Sunday, December 08, 2019 at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home in Swainsboro, GA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Franklin Sasser officiating and Rev. Casey Shaw assisting. Interment followed at Eatonton Memorial Garden Cemetery with Rev. Bill Kitchens. Honorary Escorts were Tim Palmer, Sidney Lanier, Mike Turner, Wayne Foskey, Calvin Palmer, Craig Palmer, Agape Sunday School Class, Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home Staff, and Pruitt Hospice Staff.
Mrs. Palmer was born April 17, 1929 to the late Claude Sr. and Dovie Lee Brown Ferrell. She retired from Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank, Palmer Gulf and Tire in Eatonton, GA and Palmer Insurance Agency of Greensboro, GA. She enjoyed gardening, loved her African violets, and Hummingbirds. She was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church and a past member of the Eatonton Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star of Eatonton, GA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Tully Palmer, her son, James Ronald “Ron” Palmer, and four brothers, Claude Ferrell, Jr., Albert Ferrell, Jim Higgs, and Green Higgs.
Survivors include Her Daughter, Rosalind McVey (Freddie) of Swainsboro, GA; Her Daughter-In-Law, Fran Palmer of Savannah, GA; Her Grandchildren, David McVey (Jessica), Brent Palmer, and Beth Palmer; Her Great-Grandchildren, Cameron McVey, Kayleigh Miller, Samantha Smith, Sabina Gonzalez, Oziel Gonzalez, and Griselda Gonzalez.
