Ruby Barnes

Mrs. Ruby Barnes, affectionately known as “Big Mama,” departed this earthly life on November 17, 2018.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at Free Gift Baptist Church, 270 Scuffleboro Road, Eatonton, Georgia. Burial followed in the Free Gift Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ruby was born in Eatonton on April 8, 1923 to the late, Eva Julia Hargrove and the late J. Clemons.

She was a native of Eatonton, however, she relocated to Macon, Georgia early in life where she met and married the love of her life, the late Richard Barnes. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Barnes and her sister, Annie Mae Corbin.

Ruby’s legacy of love and fond memories will be cherished forever by her loving and devoted daughter, Eva Mullens of Eatonton; a devoted and dedicated adopted daughter and son, Kimberly & Stan Alford of Macon; 14 grandchildren, Franklin Wright, Audrey (Donald Jackson) Wright and Muretha Hurt, all of Eatonton, Bennie Jackson of Boston, Mass., Lisa Jackson and Brian Mullens both of Eatonton, Ocshavia Wynes, Shartavia Alford and Stantagious Alford all of Macon, Carolyn Barnes, Sylvia Barnes, Kelvin Barnes, Marshall Barnes and Deborah Barnes, all of Sandersville, Ga.; three devoted cousins/sisters, Mary Julia Jackson of Macon, Dorothy Ellison and Lillie Bell Hargrove both of Eatonton, Ga.; Adopted sister and brother, Rev. W.J. and Martha Reid and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bentley & Son Funeral Home, 2714 Montpelier Avenue, Macon, GA 31204, 478-742-0952 had charge of arrangements.
