Phoenix Homemakers updated on Circle of Love

Posted in:

Paula Allison, of Circle of Love, updated the Phoenix Homemakers on the work the nonprofit provides to a five-county radius. CONTRIBUTED

Paula Allison gave the August program to Phoenix Homemakers about the services that the Circle of Love organization provides for five counties.

An emergency shelter and resource center for domestic violence victims is serving Putnam, Greene, Morgan, Hancock and Baldwin counties. Allison provides the legal advocacy for the victims of domestic and family violence by presenting the restraining orders to the proper authorities and also being in court with the victims when necessary.

The Circle of Love Center helped over 400 women in 2017, and the number increases when considering the children also involved when these women need assistance. The services provided by Circle of Love include a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, residential and non-residential support groups and domestic violence education, safety planning and legal advocacy. Ms. Allison also pointed out that services are sometimes needed by men in abusive situations and aid is given to them.

Help to support Circle of Love is always appreciated in the forms of monetary contributions, gift cards, household items, volunteer services and clothing.

Phoenix Homemakers has been in partnership for many years with Circle of Love and collects paper goods, cleaning products as well as having special collections of items requested by Circle of Love such as school uniforms. Phoenix Homemakers also has a special project at Christmas which provides wrapped Christmas presents for women and children who are currently in residence.

Phoenix Homemakers meets the at 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at Philadelphia Methodist Church on New Phoenix Road. All women are invited to attend. For more information, contact Judy Fain at 706-485-0408 or arfain@aol.com for further information.
