Nathanael Greene Academy has hired Rhonda Byce of Greensboro as the new middle school language arts teacher for the 2018-19 school year.
She brings with her not only her expertise as a teacher but her love and care for the children. She is dedicated to helping children become the best they can be.
Byce is the daughter of Florence and Fred Moon who formally owned Moon’s Grocery in Greensboro. She was an honor graduate of NGA and graduated cum laude from Georgia College with a Bachelor of Science degree in general business administration, and later received her elementary education teacher certification from Georgia College. She has been married to Bill Byce for more than 38 years. They have one son, Bill Byce, who was also a NGA honor graduate and is a teacher and coach at Brookwood School in Thomasville. Mr. and Mrs. Byce have three beautiful granddaughters.
Byce has been a member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro all of her life, having taught Youth Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years; and now serves as church clerk, substitute Sunday school teacher and on the Mission Committee.
She previously taught at Nathanael Greene for 22 years, teaching second grade for 21 years and third grade for one year before retiring in 2013.
“Miss” Byce, as the children lovingly call her, inspired many children. Her smile, her laughter, her way of teaching and her encouragement made them want to learn.
She is excited to return to NGA and be reunited with students, faculty and parents of NGA.
“I can’t wait to get there in August,” she said. “NGA is home to me, and I believe that home is where the heart is.”
NGA is happy to have her.
