Ms. Marquita Quinae Pounds of Eatonton transitioned to rest Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Macon at Navicent Healthcare Medical Center.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, March 18, at Plainview Baptist Church, 1221 Plainview Rd., Madison with Rev. Terry Dorsey officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ms. Marquita Quinae Pounds was born June 8, 1983, in Baldwin County. She was born to Ms. Beverly Pounds and Mr. Toney Pounds. Marquita was educated to the Putnam county School system. She graduated from high school on May 8, 2001. Marquita continuing education at Georgia Military College in 2003, and later transferred to Clayton State University where she received a degree in the medical profession. She was an excellent student as well as an exceptional athlete. She played softball basketball and track and field. Marquita was passionate and dedicated to being a leader in the boy scout troop #583, but her heart was in education and love for all children. Marquita new and love Jesus, and at an early age, she joined our family church, Plainview Baptist Church, accepting Christ as her Lord and savior. she knew her time, talent, and tenth belongs to God, so she joined the youth choir. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Herman Pounds, and Alex and Annie Cora Reed; and a host of aunts and uncles.

She leaves to mourn and cherish your memories: father, Tony Pounds; her loving and grateful mother, Beverly Pounds; the love of her life and only son, Ty’quillious Mohone; her one and only loving brother, Marquinn Pounds, who adored her; sisters, Shamika (Rae) Karrington Butts, Shaniqua (Anthony) Hubert-Brooks and Jabeika (Curtis) Matthias; godsons whom she loved dearly, Khaleem and Kamari Andrade and Kamryn Pope; her special little ones, whom she helped raised, Brielle Pounds and Javion and Kynslee Jones; her paternal grandmother, Walter Mae Pounds; uncle, Curtis Culp; and her special and loving godparents, Jesse and Elizabeth Nelson.

Marquita had many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly, including a special friend she loved, Anthony Andrews; her best friends, Kasheena Reid, Dornita Hudson, Jessica Holt Sanders, Kilee Reid, and Sheena Harrison; special cousins and friends, Morris Edwards, Charmony Pounds, and Shaunta Pounds; and her biggest supporters, Willie Frank Thompkins, Francis Andrews, and Mary Clark. There is no shortage of other relatives and friends whom in life she did not touch, so that we can reflect, remember, and cherish her forever.
