Janice Roberts Harden’s earthly book was closed on Jan. 21, 2020.

Services were held on Jan. 27, 2020 at Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes in Decatur. Minister Michael Harden, presided.

Janice was born to the parentage of the late Edmond Roberts Jr. and Rozella Wesley Roberts in Eatonton on Jan. 5, 1946. Janice was the fourth of eight children and enjoyed spending quality time with her siblings and family in the area they affectionately called “Rabbit Skip.” As a young child, she was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Eatonton. She was educated in the Putnam County School System matriculating from Butler-Baker. Upon completion of her studies, Janice moved to Chicago, Illinois. She was employed at Hart, Schaffuer and Marx as a seamstress. In the late 1970s, Janice and her family moved to Atlanta followed by Decatur. She was employed by Nabisco Bakery until her retirement in 2006. In 1968, Janice married her high school sweetheart, Mr. Lucious Harden. To this union two children were born; Kim and Rena. She enjoyed traveling with her family, was a master storyteller and always kept up with current events. She also enjoyed spending quality time sharing secrets with the apple of her eye, her only grandchild, Master Grant Edward Smith. Along with her parents, three siblings preceded her in death, Mr. Reddie James Robinson, Mrs. Dorothy Roberts Williams, and Mrs. Annie Joyce Roberts Bonner (Clyde).

Cherishing her memories are her spouse, Mr. Lucious Harden; her daughters, Kimberly Harden Grant (Joseph), Rena Harden Smith (George); her only grandchild, Grant Edward Smith; siblings, Edmond Roberts III (Fannie), Alice Pounds, Leonard Roberts (Gwen), Michael Roberts and Carl Roberts (Dessa); two sisters-in-law, Jeannie Harden Spivey (Dave) and Deborah Harden Vogt (Leonard). The remainder of her family includes a host of loving and concerned nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
