Peggy Walton Feist, loving mother and grandmother entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 88.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held in the Eatonton First United Methodist Church Historic Sanctuary on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
Peggy was born on April 26, 1930 in Eatonton, Georgia to John R. & Gladys Vining Walton. She attended & graduated from Putnam County High School in 1947 & Georgia State College for Women in 1951. She won 1st Place in Typing & Short Hand in the State of Georgia while in High School. After graduating GSCW, Peggy taught High School Seniors at Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Georgia. After teaching for 1 year, she met the “Love of her Life”, Russell Feist, married and moved to Texas in 1954. Russell & Peggy began their journey of marriage in Palestine, TX where Missie was born two years later. Due to Russell’s job, they transferred to New Orleans, LA where John & Mark were born. They finished their child rearing years in Dallas, TX. In later years Russell & Peggy transferred to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for 5 years & Jakarta, Indonesia for 4 years before retirement. Peggy experienced a lot of overseas travel and enjoyed sharing her many stories. Russell preceded Peggy in death in 2004 after 49 years of marriage. In 2012, Peggy moved from Eatonton, GA to Austin, TX and resided at Westminster Manor Assisted Living for 7 years. She has had the nickname of “Party Peg” for many years and continued to be very active and enjoyed her new friends and activities. Peggy was active with seated exercise classes, Art classes, Domino Games, & Bingo. She attended many wonderful programs offered each night at her new residence.Peggy’s nurses & caregivers were very loving, nurturing, and were committed to her comfort & health care. They were like FAMILY to Peggy and her 3 children.
Peggy is survived by her youngest sister, Martha Walton Darden; her three children, Melissa “Missie” Feist Engel (Earl K.), John R. Feist (Kate), & Mark W. Feist; Five grandchildren, Lauren A. Marshall & Blake R. Marshall, Anson & Alden Feist, and Charlie Feist.
