Mom, son nabbed in undercover cocaine sting

Undercover agents scoring a buy for Putnam County narcotic detectives say they caught a mother and her son in the act.

The arrests came down to picking son up last summer, but waiting until this month to put handcuffs on Mom, when she came to watch her son’s court case.

Julie Ann Hargrove already had a history with police, being a key witness in the murder case for prosecutors in the Earl Gill murder trial a few months back. But officers were waiting for the right moment to charge her with selling cocaine with her son, Tremaine Farley.

Farley was arrested Aug. 27 for two counts of the sale of cocaine, two counts of failure to appear for child support, giving false information and making false statements to officials.

When his case went to court Dec. 8, Hargrove was in the courtroom to support her son.

Deputies knew she would be there. That’s when they arrested her in connection with the sale of cocaine in an undercover drug buy from earlier in the year.

According to narcotics Lt. Harry Luke, an undercover officer made the buy from Farley and went to pick up the drugs. Farley wasn’t going to be home, so he had Mom deliver the drugs to the undercover agent. Then he later collected the money.

According to deputies, both Farley and Hargrove have criminal histories.

Hargrove remains in the Putnam County jail under a $25,000 property bond.
