Mary Alice Bussie
Mary Alice Bussie, 60, of Atlanta, formerly of Eatonton, passed away Sunday, Aug.15, 2010, at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center, Eatonton.
She was the wife of Evin Bussie of Atlanta.
Mrs. Bussie was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Eatonton to the late Susie Lee Ford and Maxie Sims.
She was united with the Jefferson Baptist Church of Eatonton at an early age.
Mrs. Bussie will truly be missed by all who knew her. Besides her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory: seven sons, Rickey Ford, Jerry Ford, Patrick (Jeannette) Daniel, Kasey (Lisa) Ford, Corey Ford, Reco Ford and Teco Ford, all of Atlanta; special granddaughter Starquila Ford and 24 other grandchildren; five brothers, Hulin (Sonja) Ford, Percy (Tarica) Ford and Travis Ford, all of Atlanta, Jimmy (Brenda Ann) Ford of Greensboro and Charles (Autherine) Ford of Decatur; one sister, Bertha (Calvin) Stuart of Stockbridge; two aunts, Shirley Ford of Eatonton and Ida Stone of Atlanta; six uncles, Randall Ford and Hubert Ford, both of Decatur, Peter Crawford of Eatonton, Gene Sims and Grady Sims, both of Atlanta, and Ernest Lee Walton; devoted nieces and cousin, Helen Ann Reid, Japaka Hill, and Lisa Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Jefferson Baptist Church, 495 Harmony Road, Eatonton. The Rev. Rodrick Bradford, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bernard’s Family Funeral Care LLC, 103 Willie Bailey Street, Eatonton, was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Tubbs
Betty Tubbs, 77, of Eatonton, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at her home.
She was the wife of Irvin Tubbs of Eatonton.
Other survivors include a son, Steve Alan (Charlene Varela-Tubbs) Tubbs of California.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jay Edward Tubbs.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Eatonton.
Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Sylvia Marshburn Petzold
Sylvia Marshburn Petzold, 76, of Trenton, N.C., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Petzold of Dover, N.C., and Barry Petzold of Eatonton; two daughters, Tawana Zimmer of Jacksonville and Arlene Gorman of Illinois; one brother, Walter Marshburn of Washington state; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, 52 Bryant St., Alliance, N.C., with the Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joann Williford English
Joann Williford English, 65, of Danielsville, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Daughter of the late Epps David Williford and Callie Bell Adams, Mrs. English was born Dec. 3, 1944, in Washington, Wilkes County. She attended Forest Hill High School in Atlanta. For more than 42 years she was a packager for Chipman Union and Bryan Scott. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Lynn English Batchelor; her fiance, Jimmy Burkhead of Danielsville; a son, Richard David "Ricky" (Chic) English Sr. of Stephens; sisters, Linda W. (Dean) McDonald of Union Point, Faye W. Gipson of Newnan, and Cherry W. (Robert) Goss of Rayle; grandchildren, Richard English Jr. and Erica English, both of Watkinsville, Kristin English, Jeremy Arnold and Megan Batchelor, all of Danielsville, Kelsey English and Wesley Moore both of Covington, John Batchelor of Griffin, Johnny Martin and Chevi Card, both of Colbert, Tasha Hayes of Dahlonega, and Erica Abunaw of Atlanta; 11 great-grandchildren, Guy English, Aiden English, Tegan Arnold, Masen Arnold, Rylan Moore, Brandon Aikens, Austin Aikens, Evan Aikens, Cheyenne Hayes, Tatyanna Abunaw and Jasiyah Abunaw; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services were held Monday, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point with the Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating.
