Gene Griffith Jordan
Gene Griffith Jordan, age 74, of Union Point, Ga,, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at his home in Union Point. Gene was born April 28, 1936, in Madison County, Ga., to the late William Joseph "Bud" Jordan and Ina Mae Smith Jordan. He attended Madison County School. Gene worked as a mill wright at Georgia Pacific and later helped Mike McCommons at Durhamtown in Union Point. He was a member of Union Point Worship Center. He loved his family, friends and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Jean Beal Jordan of Union Point, GA; three daughters, Sandy Seigler of McDonough, Ga., Terrie Garcia and husband Victor of Greensboro, and Sherrie Cooper and husband Lafayette of Athens; step sons, David Head and wife Michelle of Huey Town, Ala., and Wesley Gaines of Crawfordville; three grandchildren, Allie Seigler of Griffin, and Emilie and Isaac Garcia of Greensboro; ten step grandchildren; Vic Garcia, Jr., Demondius Cooper, Lafayette Cooper, Jr., Chris Head, Lauren Head, Reo Searls, Savannah Gaines, Sloan Gaines, Wesley Middendorff and Samantha Middendorff; two great-grandchildren, Houston and Peyton Henson of Griffin; and four step great- grandchildren, Michael Head, Austin Pettibone, Andrew Middendorff and Sarah Middendorff; three sisters, Virginia Smith of Greensboro, Gladys Frady and husband Bobby of Toccoa, and Rachel Glover of Greensboro; two brothers, Doffice Jordan and wife Gladys of Greensboro, and Wayne Jordan and wife Betty of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Zerah Jordan of Greensboro; brother-in-law, Talmadge Michaels of Athens; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Osley and Louise Michaels; and a brother, W. E. "Dub" Jordan.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Dennis Mitchell and Rev. Johnny Barrett officiating. Odessa M. Coleman
Odessa M. Coleman, 92, of Union Point, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Greene Point Nursing Home.
Born in Greene County, she was a member of Hills Chapel Baptist Church in Greensboro.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Marie Braun of Summerfield, N.C.; and nieces Dora Green of Atlanta, Doris Green of Greensboro, Linda Braun of Virginia Beach, Va., and Machelle Braun of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Hills Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Herman Laguins officiating, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Norrington Funeral Home of Greensboro is in charge of arrangements.
